Monday was actually another travelling day, back from Milton Keynes to Norwich to do lots of washing and get ready for going away on Tuesday. These photos are actually from Wednesday 3rd August when Sarah and I went to Wentworth Garden Centre with Grandma.

So many colours and so many different flowers!

A sunday after a big night out... what to do... a pub lunch? Nobody knew of anywhere to go so we picked a road and looked for a pub. We ended up heading towards the Canal Museum and found a really nice pub with lots of space in the garden. Then there was a yummy lunch to eat, a wander along the canal and home to a couple of DVDs and a really chilled evening

Evening with Michael & James

Beans of multiple varieties
Michael, James & me... dressed up and ready to party!
At the start of cooking dinner...

Friday was a transfer day, my cousin dropped me off in Milton Keynes and I met a friend for the weekend. Michael and I met 5 years (golly that's a long time!!!) ago when we started university. I didn't manage to see him and James last time I was in England so it was really great to have a chance to catch up properly

On the saturday evening Mike & I made a huge beany lasagne, there were 4 (or maybe 5) different types of beans in the tomato sauce... really yummy With a really crispy cheesy top and garlic bread who can refuse?! We then all went out to the Pink Punter... the only gay venue in or close to Milton Keynes... needless to say it was packed and playing good music so Michael and I did lots of dancing whilst James sat and watched

I can see u wearing my bracelt!!! Wed 3-Aug-2005 13:10

Night at my cousin's

This was the day where I dashed off on another hectic trip. First stop, my cousin's... I got a train to Milton Keynes where she picked me up. We went for tea (well hot chocolate for me ) and then drove out to her house. She lives out in the middle of nowhere in a converted barn with Highland cows peering over the fence... It was a lovely drive down lots of green lanes

The evening was a quiet one, we had lots of chatting to do and horror stories to share from field work. Lots of photos to look at as well! But I did take the chance to get some photos of where she lives... it's a house plus all it's outbuildings and all the outbuildings have been converted to dwellings but they're all named after what they used to be... the stables, the granary, the smithy etc. It's been really nicely done.

A busy day

New shoes!
Well today was a busy day but not a big photo day. I finally got my PhD application finished and in the post so it's now all fingers and toes crossed that I get a place . I've spent the rest of the day organising things and trying to get my head round writing an abstract for a conference in October... it's all very thrilling!

On Monday however I went shopping with my mum... my parents (thanks daddy!) got me an early birthday present... new shoes!!!! Marie was asking what they look like and I've got nothing more inspirational to post today so here they are It's the first new shoes (non-dancing) that I've had in the last three years... rather an exciting experience!

nice shoes!!! Thu 28-Jul-2005 07:34

Mexican meal

A table full of food...
Homemade tortillas
Pudding... Green & Blacks :)
View all 6 photos...
Andy and Sarah (friends of my parents from way back) came over in the evening for a mexican meal. The initial count was 8 or 9 people so my mum cooked accordingly... we ended up with 5 people! Lots of food and it was all homemade

The menu: tortillas, refried beans, potatoes with spinach and nuts, spicy mince, pork carnitas, chicken mole, hot sauce, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, cheese, tomato and cucumber... Needless to say I ate far too much! Will definitely need to do lots of dancing to get rid of it all

yum Wed 27-Jul-2005 06:45

Gardening

bumble bee :)

View all 15 photos...
The clouds are really low and grey today, rain is forecast for tomorrow... I've spent most of my day at a desk (so much for a holiday ), trying to catch up on emails and do a PhD application . My mum and grandma and sister have spent most of the day in the garden. No-one had been looking after it for a while so things went a little bit wild... lots of tidying to do.

This afternoon I managed to get out and snap a few flowers and went to the garden centre with mummy & grandma for tea. There was a special little section on gardening for wildlife which had a bumble bee nest. I managed to get one photo before I was hurried on

beautiful flowers!! Sun 24-Jul-2005 11:34
