Latest entry:South Island Trip Day 7 - Lake Matheson (Reflection Island)
Ok, just down the road from Fox Glacier is a lake called Lake Matheson which is famous for reflecting the mountains that surround it. Its about a 10Km hike around the lake, but coming up to sunset its nice way to relax after spending the morning and afternoon hiking on the glacier. I have such a good job..... :-D
A turtle laid 5 nests on the beach near my workplace and the first hatchlings emerged sunday night. We dug the nest the next morning and found 27 hatchlings that had troubles getting to the surface. So we took them and after measuring and weighting we released them on the beach. They crawled their way to the ocean and we helped the weakest to find their way.

Spearfishing and relaxing was the main order of everyday. I am still a beginner and learning but managed to shoot 4 fish, but only land 2 on the boat. Largest and first was a Sea-Pike weighing 6kg, second a Cuta around 2.5-3kg!!! Small I know but shows how accurate my aim is......
